Prevagen Ingredients – The Breakdown

There are only 2 main ingredients in this supplement:

  • Apoaequorin – This is a protein derived from a jellyfish. There’s some evidence that it supports healthy brain functioning. A study published in Advances in Body Mind Medicine found that ingestion of this substance did improve cognitive functioning in older adults.
  • Vitamin D – This vitamin supports brain health by activating enzymes in the brain. It also serves the role of protecting neurons. An article in the Scandinavian Journal of Clinical and Laboratory Investigation discussed the role of Vitamin D in cognitive function.

How Does It Work? | The Science Behind Prevagen

The main ingredient is a protein called apoaequorin, which in a variety of research studies has been shown to support healthy brain functioning.

According to an article published at McGill University, this protein functions mostly because it binds to calcium and assists cells in the uptake of calcium, which is crucial in brain health.

Nerve cells require calcium for proper functioning. Apoaequorin can apparently protect nerve cells from some of the consequences of aging.

There is some research to support the usefulness of this substance for brain health.

Not sure yet if it works or not!

I am using this product for 2 months so far. I have mild cognitive impairment. I think it’s still too early to tell, however, I noticed that I stay focus a little longer. But I have not seen a difference in my memory. So the verdict is still out. But there is no such big difference so far, no better, no worse. I’m still taking this supplement in hopes that it will eventually make a noticeable difference, so I will continue it for another few weeks then decide to continue or not this product. Not even sure if I should recommend it or not.
