About DermaPen

DermaPen is a brand of microneedling device designed for professional use. It is manufactured by a US-based company of the same name.

This company was established in 2011 and since has been known as one of the best producers of professional micro-needling equipment.

Over the years, the company has perfected the art and science of producing this kind of equipment through its patented technologies.

DermaPen Pros & Cons

Pros

  • It is a high-quality device intended to be used by authorized providers only.
  • Helps induce the body to increase its production of collagen and elastin.
  • Helps to get rid of fine lines, wrinkles, and even scarring.
  • Claims to minimize pores to make the skin look more refined.
  • Can tighten the skin and improve its elasticity.
  • It is recommended for all skin types, especially for those with acne scars and surgery scars.
  • It can be performed not only on the face, but on other areas (i.e. arms, legs, abdomen, etc.) as well.

Cons

  • It works basically by introducing injury to the skin.
  • It may lead to side effects such as redness and irritation, albeit mild in nature.
  • It may not be suitable for individuals with bleeding problems.

How Does It Work?

DermaPen, or microneedling in general, works by creating micro-injuries onto the skin, both on the topmost and inner layers. Such injuries induce the body to repair itself, which does so by destroying the damaged and stimulating the production of collagen and elastin.

As we may already know, collagen and elastin are the two key proteins that make up the skin. Freshly-produced collagen and elastin then replace the damaged tissues, leaving the injured area as though it wasn’t damaged at all.

The Bottom Line

Microneedling procedure claims to be one of the safest and most effective ways of solving common skin problems, and DermaPen is said to be the most reliable device for such.

This product has lots of good points to it, the best one being the fact that it is made by a well-known provider of micro-needling devices.

The main downside would probably be the side effects, but those shouldn’t really be much of a problem since they are mild and go away after a few days.

If you still aren’t convinced enough, we suggest looking at the before and after pictures on the official website as well as the available customer reviews for the product.

As long as you get it done by an authorized provider, DermaPen should work wonders for your skin.

I can’t get it to work again.

This worked for me the first time and I can’t get it to work again. I’ve charged batteries, done everything I can think of and it no longer works. Finally, I emailed Dr. Pen for the 4th tome and they stopped responding to me. I don’t recommend.

I should've paid more attention to the ingredients.

It has a gentle mix with HA, isn’t irritating to the skin. There is a limited effect with reducing wrinkles which is what I bought it for since I already have another water mask (think the thicker, stronger version of this) though I should’ve paid more attention to the ingredients.

    By Sepali O.

Not Convinced. It is pretty pricey.

I have been using this product for about a week now. I have noticed that my face has broken out more than before I used it. According to the other reviews, this is a ‘purge breakout’ where the Dermapen pulls bacteria up to the surface for the first use. Their website also says to limit the use to just once per day if this persists. I will keep trying to see if my skin improves but as of right now I am uncertain if I couldn’t have lived without it. It is pretty pricey.
