Vitamin B6: Vitamin B6, also known as pyridoxine, is a water-soluble vitamin that plays an important role in the metabolism of protein and carbohydrates [5]. It is also required for the production of red blood cells and the synthesis of DNA and RNA.

Vitamin B6 deficiency can lead to anemia, depression, confusion, and difficulty concentrating. It may also cause muscle weakness or pain. Low levels of vitamin B6 can lead to irregular heart rhythm and an increased risk of heart attack or stroke. It is essential for the normal functioning of the brain and nervous system, as well as for producing red blood cells. Vitamin B12 is absorbed by a process called “intrinsic factor,” which requires stomach acid and a specific protein produced by stomach cells called the intrinsic factor. When these conditions are not met because of disorders like atrophic gastritis or pernicious anemia, vitamin B12 cannot be properly absorbed, and deficiency develops. Symptoms of a deficiency include fatigue, weakness, numbness, tingling in hands and feet, constipation, weight loss, depression, and soreness around the mouth.
