Magnesium on its own is not a cure form the cramps.

This alone did not alleviate the night leg cramps. However, when I asked my doctor, he suggested a glass of tonic water containing quinine. Furthermore, sugarless tonic water contains more ‘quinine’ to sweeten the drink than regular tonic water, which is more of a soft drink.

Cramp Defense - Questions and Answers

Q: What is a good, quick way to relieve a nighttime leg cramp?

A: Leg cramps, as I have answered before, are usually due to magnesium or potassium deficiency. Especially as we age, we do not absorb these minerals from food adequately. I have found Cramp Defense magnesium supplements to be very helpful. They are available on an online platform.

Q: How Much Should I Take Cramp Defense?

A: Start with 1 capsule a day, with food. The goal is to find the smallest dose that works for you. Divide your doses between morning and night.

Q: Do I Need to Take Cramp Defense Forever?

A: If your cramps are caused by magnesium deficiency, YES, you need to constantly replenish your magnesium levels, to prevent cramps from returning. As we get older, magnesium deficiency gets more and more common, especially when you are under stress and/or exert yourself -- so it is best to always maintain a steady magnesium supply.
