How Does OmegaXL Work?
OmegaXL combines natural green-lipped mussel oil and omega-3 fatty acids to support joint health and mobility.
Green-lipped mussel oil contains Specialized Pro-Resolving Mediators (SPMs), which are known to help reduce inflammation and improve joint function. A study published in the Annual Review of Pharmacology and Toxicology states that the scope of the SPM-based resolution pharmacology is beyond pain and itch control and should cover many inflammation-related diseases.[1]
Omega-3 fatty acids like EPA and DHA also play a key role in supporting healthy inflammatory responses and promoting better flexibility. A study in the Molecular Nutrition & Food Research Journal shows that omega‐3 fatty acids can modulate inflammatory pathways, potentially reducing chronic inflammation and enhancing immune function.[2]
OmegaXL aids in reducing discomfort, enhancing muscle recovery, and improving overall joint function. Its unique formula may also promote better movement and less stiffness. However, the results can vary depending on individual health conditions and consistency of use.
Supplement Facts & Omega-3 Content
OmegaXL Supplement Facts
OmegaXL contains a variety of ingredients, but the product’s omega-3 content is not clearly specified in terms of EPA and DHA. While the label mentions green-lipped mussel oil, the exact breakdown of omega-3s per serving is not provided.
- Green-Lipped Mussel Oil: This is the primary source of omega-3s in OmegaXL. However, it’s unclear how much EPA and DHA are specifically provided, making it hard to assess whether the product offers an effective dose of omega-3s for joint pain relief.
- Omega-3 Content: 600 mg of omega-3s is provided per serving (4 softgels). However, clinical studies on omega-3s for joint health typically use higher doses (1,000–2,400 mg per day).
What’s Not Disclosed: The exact amounts of EPA and DHA in OmegaXL are not listed, which is a significant point of concern for potential users who want a clear understanding of the product’s effectiveness.
Bottom Line: While OmegaXL includes green-lipped mussel oil, the lack of transparency regarding the omega-3 content, specifically EPA and DHA, makes it difficult to evaluate its effectiveness for joint pain relief.
How We Evaluated OmegaXL
We assessed OmegaXL based on the following criteria:
- Transparency: The product lists its key ingredients, but crucial details like the exact omega-3 content (EPA and DHA) are not disclosed. This lack of transparency makes it difficult for consumers to evaluate the dosage and effectiveness.
- Dosing: OmegaXL provides 600 mg of omega-3s per serving, which is below the clinically recommended doses that suggest taking 1,000–2,400 mg for joint pain relief.
- Evidence: The effectiveness of OmegaXL is based on omega-3s and green-lipped mussel oil, which have been shown to offer anti-inflammatory benefits. However, the specific formulation of OmegaXL has not been widely studied, and results can vary among users.
- Safety: OmegaXL is generally safe for most users, but there are risks, especially for individuals with shellfish allergies. Gastrointestinal side effects and allergic reactions are possible.
- Cost: At $48.99 for a 30-day supply, OmegaXL is on the pricier side compared to other omega-3 supplements or joint health alternatives.
Is OmegaXL Legit or a Scam?
OmegaXL is legitimate in the sense that it is backed by clinical studies supporting its claims of reducing joint inflammation and pain. However, the product has received mixed responses from users.
While some studies, including a gold standard trial, show positive results, other claims, such as being a breakthrough secret or more potent than regular fish oil, have been challenged for lacking proper context or transparency.
Furthermore, OmegaXL’s effects can take weeks to show, and some users report side effects, raising concerns about its interactions with medications.
Results vary, and it may not work for everyone. This analysis is based on information from the National Advertising Division and other sources.

Omega XL does not work for joint pain
I recently ordered Omega XL for joint pain. It was their TV ad buy one get one free trial for $39.95. I finished the first bottle, just started on the 2nd bottle when I get another ‘unauthorized’ charge from HealthWorks who sells Omega XL on my charge card. I did not sign up for auto-ship because I do not ever do autoship & they just shipped it and the price had doubled to $79.95. I called their office, complained & rep tried & tried to get me to keep the unauthorized order. Because this company does business this way I decided I would request a refund on both charges for which they make returning it difficult & then informed me it would take 30 days for the refund to show up on my card. This is called ‘floating’ credit card funds which are illegal. I decided to report this to the Federal Trade Commission. Consumers are being blasted with this type of behavior out of some of these companies.
Very good & helpful service, Omega XL by Great Health Works
I started taking Omega XL, I understand that everyone is different but personally for me, it works and the auto-mail helps me out alot so I don’t have to worry about having to order every month. I highly recommend Omega XL.
Does Omega XL work for severe back pain?
You talk about joint pain but does Omega XL work on MAJOR SEVERE BACK PAIN? A herniated disc, sciatica, or foot pain? No pros and cons about that…Joint pain is one thing but I suffer a lot more than that.
Omega XL Review - It doesn't help at all.
I’ve been taking Omega XL for a couple of months now and have seen no improvement whatsoever. I think this, like so many other fish oil supplements we take, is a hoax. I have been taking Omega XL caspules for over 6 months now and my joints seem worse than before I started taking it. Needless to say, this has been another waste of my money.
I had canceled Omega XL numerous times.
They keep running the auto shipment after I already canceled the product. I have called and sent several emails, but it’s like I don’t exist. I’m not happy because they don’t abide by my wishes. I’m done with the Omega XL autoship, why they keep taking my money!
Omega XL Review - Did not believe the HYPE!
I decided to get Omega XL as advertise that it would help your joints, arthritis, pain, and help you be more active without pain. Well, I signed up in September for 30 days and I found no improvement so I called and the Omega XL customer service agent said increase dosage and we will extend the promotion for 30 days. I called again and they tried to give me another 30 days. I canceled but they had already billed me for the 3 dosages. The promise was a guaranteed refund if not satisfied. I insisted on a refund and now they want to tell me I may not be refunded for the purchase. I am a person who keeps notes, names, and times of calls. I have a confirmation email of the cancellation. I want a refund of 194.76. DON’T PURCHASE THIS PRODUCT, IT DOESN’T WORK AND THEY MAKE EXCUSES TO KEEP YOUR MONEY AFTER THEY PROMISED TO REFUND YOUR MONEY IF AREN’T SATISFIED.
Not interested in Omega XL anymore.
Made me not buy it doesn’t sound real and after reading the real Omega XL customer reviews. I’m not going to go down the rabbit hole.
Lousy, Very Misleading Return Policy, Omega XL a Big No.
Omega XL website and all other advertising tout 60-day return guarantee. I call the service department to find out how to return my last two orders thinking the shipment date on the boxes was within the 60-day limit on returns and found out that the 60-day return is for new customers only. So I can not return my last 2 orders. Omega XL price is very high. If this were a reputable company, returns would not be so limited, especially since the product I hoped to return is current. I caution customers to be aware of their misleading return policy.
Do not purchase if you do not want auto-renewal of Omega XL
You will be automatically placed on auto-renewal after your first purchase of your product of Omega XL except you cancel. If you don’t want to be on auto-renewal, be sure to cancel your subscription after your purchase. otherwise, you continue to get the order and your account will be debited. Pls, buyers, take note.
Took a long time to cancel the subscription of Omega XL
I tried Omega XL and it did not help me. I called but when I select the option to cancel my order I waited for what seems like an eternity and was unable to speak with a representative. I sent them some e-mail until finally, they respond by saying that they have received my request and they will contact me. Lo and behold my Bank account. was charged again. I called and finally spoke to a representative who told me that she cannot cancel the order that was placed today only future orders.
