How Does Cerave Moisturizing Cream Work?
Cerave Cream Moisturizing is packed with 3 essential ceramides that build on each other to help restore the protective barrier of the skin and also lock in skin moisture.
It also features MVE technology which together with the 3 essential ceramides, ensures efficient delivery of skin barrier which slows the release of moisture over time.
It also contains other ingredients like hyaluronic acid and glycerin which are known to support skin hydration and miniaturization.
What are the ingredients in Cerave Moisturizing Cream?
Glycerin
Glycerin belongs to the humectant family, a hygroscopic substance packed with molecular structures with a number of hydrophilic like hydroxyl.
It is a common humectant in skin care products because of its ability to hold water and moisture in the skin, thus improving the hydration of your skin.
According to Clinical, Cosmetic, and Investigation Dermatology, glycerin has been found to increase skin hydration. It can also effectively play the role of a skin barrier function.
Ceramides
Ceramide is a potent ingredient and is known to support the stratum corner, the outer layer of the skin.
Ceramides prevent the skin from becoming itchy, dry, and irritated. It ensures that the skin barrier does not become unstable or weaken to cause skin concerns like dryness, irritation, or itchiness.
According to a study in Cells, ceramides have diverse physiological roles. They are sphingolipids that play an essential role in forming a permeable barrier in the stratum corneum.
They can also help prevent the invasion of harmful substances into the skin and also prohibit the skin from losing excess water.
Sodium Hyaluronate
Sodium hyaluronate is a salt from hyaluronic acid, a great ingredient when it comes to boosting skin hydration. It also protects collagen to slow down early aging signs and also decreases skin water loss due to low humidity and sun exposure.
According to a study in Molecules Journal, Hyaluronic acid can help hold skin moisture and also provide it with firmness and a radiant look. Topical application of HA can also boost skin regeneration and also has anti-aging and moisturizing effects on the skin.
Petrolatum
Petrolatum is an emollient that can easily penetrate the skin to prevent moisture loss and also provide compromised skin with immediate occlusion.
According to a study in the Journal of American Academic Dermatology, petrolatum has been found to be a great impermeable membrane that allows the barrier of normal skin recovery.

Protection of skin is missing from Cerave Moisturizing Cream
I adore Creave’s face care, but I wish there was more to make the cleanser foamier and lighter. The protection of skin is missing from the product
Cerave Moisturizing is not worth the money spent on it.
This Cerave moisturising cream isn’t very nice; it’s really creamy and doesn’t soak well into my skin. I dislike the pump packing and would not suggest this cream to anyone. This product is not worth the money spent on it.
I dont want to go with Cerave Moisturizing Cream again
I have used the Cerave brand in the past, so I dont want to go with it again. I have to say, I am not a huge fan of this new formula. The product feels like it is mostly water, which is fine, but it also feels sticky and tacky as it is drying which I don’t like. I don’t feel like it is a great value either. I don’t want to spend a lot of money on a facial cleanser, but I also want to get something that is going to make my skin feel clean and smooth.
