Highlights
- MAX Hard is a single-capsule male performance supplement marketed for men looking for support with erections, libido, stamina, arousal, endurance, and sexual performance.
- The seller recommends taking one capsule approximately 45 minutes before sexual activity and also states that it is best used daily.
- The formula contains 13 active ingredients within a 735 mg proprietary blend, including Maca Root Extract, Yohimbe, L-Arginine, L-Citrulline, Tongkat Ali, and Epimedium.
- The individual amount of each ingredient is not disclosed, making comparisons with doses used in clinical studies difficult.
- L-Arginine, L-Citrulline, Maca, and some other ingredients have been researched for erectile function or sexual health, but these studies did not test MAX Hard itself.
- We found no published human clinical trial testing the complete MAX Hard formula in the information reviewed.
- Claims involving fuller length and girth require more context because temporary erection fullness is different from permanently increasing penis size.
- Yohimbe raises an important safety concern, as yohimbine has been associated with blood pressure changes, rapid heartbeat, anxiety, seizures, and other adverse effects.
Overview
MAX Hard is a single-capsule male performance formula designed to support erections, libido, stamina, arousal, endurance, and sexual performance. The dose is to be taken around 45 minutes before sexual activity, and the seller also states that the product is best when used daily.
What ingredients are used in MAX Hard, however? What is the amount of each active ingredient in one capsule? Does its 735 mg proprietary blend provide L-Arginine, Maca, L-Citrulline, Yohimbe, or Tongkat Ali in amounts similar to those used in published studies? Has anyone published a study or clinical trial using the complete MAX Hard formula? And how should consumers consider claims involving harder erections, fuller length and girth, faster arousal, increased stamina, and stronger sexual performance when the individual ingredient amounts are not disclosed?
Let’s examine Swiss Navy MAX Hard’s formula transparency, scientific evidence, marketing claims, and safety information, along with how it compares with PeakErect® and WOWMD® Perform Max.

MAX Hard Ingredient Analysis

MAX Hard Supplement Fact
MAX Hard is a multi ingredient male formula for erections, blood flow, libido, stamina, arousal, energy and sexual endurance.
The Supplement Facts provides the following information on a proprietary blend:
- Maca Root Extract
- Taurine
- Yohimbe Bark Extract
- Oat Straw
- Epimedium Sagittatum
- L-Arginine
- Tribulus Terrestris
- L-Citrulline
- Siberian Ginseng
- L-Tyrosine
- Tongkat Ali
- Xanthoparmelia Scabrosa
- Cnidium Monnieri
The problem is that the amount of each ingredient per serving is not provided. The 13 ingredients contain the same blend of 735 mg, which makes it hard to compare the dose of MAX Hard to that of ingredients in published human studies.
There’s one of the better known ingredients, L-Arginine, which is an amino acid that plays a role in nitric oxide production and blood flow. The 10 randomized controlled trials with 540 men who had mild to moderate erectile dysfunction were part of a systematic review and meta-analysis.[1] In fact, researchers have discovered that supplementation with L-Arginine can improve erectile function, with doses of 1,500 to 5,000 mg.
This research provides L-Arginine with background information about erectile function but it doesn’t provide any proof that MAX Hard will have the same effect. The total dose of MAX Hard is 735 mg, of which the dose from L-Arginine is not known.
L-Citrulline’s effect on erectile function is also being studied. The one small study which has studied 1,500 mg of L-Citrulline daily was conducted in men with mild erectile dysfunction.[2] During L-Citrulline supplementation, 12 men achieved a normal erection hardness score, whereas two men achieved this score during placebo treatment.
The dosage issues are similar with maca. In a randomized study, one group of 50 men with mild erectile dysfunction took 2,400 mg of Maca supplement each day for 12 weeks, and experienced statistically significant improvements in scores for erectile function, compared with the placebo group.[3]
These doses are significant since MAX Hard’s 13-billboarded complete blend only equates to 735 mg.
Yohimbe is a favorite to mention, too. According to the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health, at this time, there is no research to prove whether yohimbe supplements actually work for erectile dysfunction.[4] Other serious side effects linked to yohimbe include high blood pressure, fast heart rate, anxiety, seizures.
Epimedium, Tribulus Terrestris, Tongkat Ali, Siberian Ginseng, Taurine, L-Tyrosine, Oat Straw, Xanthoparmelia Scabrosa and Cnidium Monnieri are also included in MAX Hard. Several contain research or traditional use for male wellness, but not establishing the efficacy of the full formula.
The greatest drawback is dose transparency. Consumers are aware of the total amount of 735 mg in the blend, but are not told how much of each active ingredient is present in the blend.
We did not either find a published human clinical trial of the full MAX Hard formula. If it could be evaluated based on individual dosages and completed clinical research on the finished product, then that would be a lot easier to assess.
Scientific Evidence
There is an important difference between research on Swiss Navy MAX Hard and research on the individual ingredients inside MAX Hard.
We found human research involving L-Arginine, L-Citrulline, Maca, and ginseng, while several other ingredients have research or a history of traditional use related to male wellness. What we did not identify was a published human clinical trial testing MAX Hard as a complete 735 mg formula.
That means much of the scientific case for MAX Hard comes from research on individual ingredients. Results from an ingredient study cannot automatically be applied to MAX Hard.
Several details can affect the outcome, including:
- Ingredient amount
- Type of extract
- Extract standardization
- Length of use
- Combination with other ingredients
- Age and general health
- Medication use
- Cardiovascular health
- Diet, exercise, sleep, and lifestyle
Research on L-Arginine has reported findings related to erectile function, with studies using doses ranging from 1,500 to 5,000 mg.[1] A small L-Citrulline study used 1,500 mg daily, while a Maca trial used 2,400 mg daily.[2][3]
These studies provide useful background, but they cannot establish the effects of MAX Hard itself.
The main limitation is dose transparency. MAX Hard has 13 active ingredients in a proprietary dosage of 735 mg, without disclosing the amount of each. This renders direct comparisons with doses given in published studies difficult; and the effects of its finished product are uncertain.
Marketing Claims That Need More Context
“Fast-Acting Formula”
MAX Hard is promoted as a fast-acting formula, and the seller recommends taking one capsule around 45 minutes before sexual activity.
This creates the expectation that users may notice an effect within a relatively short period.
However, the ingredient research does not clearly support a predictable 45-minute response from the complete MAX Hard formula.
The L-Arginine studies included in the systematic review looked at supplementation over longer treatment periods rather than simply testing one capsule 45 minutes before sex.
The Maca study used daily supplementation for 12 weeks.
The L-Citrulline study used daily supplementation for one month.
We did not identify a published human trial showing that one MAX Hard capsule reliably produces noticeable sexual-performance effects within 45 minutes.
The 45-minute timeframe should therefore be viewed as the manufacturer’s recommended timing rather than a clinically confirmed onset for the finished formula.
“More Powerful Erection”
MAX Hard is promoted as helping men achieve a more powerful erection.
There is some ingredient-level background for this claim.
L-Arginine is involved in nitric oxide production and has been studied in men with mild to moderate erectile dysfunction. A meta-analysis reported improvements in several measures of erectile and sexual function.
L-Citrulline has also been investigated for erection hardness in a small study involving men with mild erectile dysfunction.
The difficulty is the dosage.
The L-Arginine studies used between 1,500 and 5,000 mg, while the L-Citrulline study used 1,500 mg per day.
MAX Hard contains both ingredients, along with 11 others, inside a total 735 mg proprietary blend.
We therefore cannot tell whether the amounts of L-Arginine or L-Citrulline are similar to clinically studied doses.
We also did not identify a human clinical trial showing that the complete MAX Hard formula reliably produces harder or more powerful erections.
“Fuller Length and Girth”
The product is also marketed as a natural way to achieve fuller length and girth.
This claim needs an important distinction.
An erection occurs when increased blood flow causes erectile tissue to fill with blood. Better erection quality could potentially affect temporary firmness or fullness.
That is not the same as permanently increasing penis length or girth.
We did not identify clinical evidence showing that MAX Hard permanently increases penis size.
Studies involving L-Arginine, L-Citrulline, Maca, Yohimbe, or other ingredients in the formula should not be used as evidence of permanent anatomical enlargement.
A claim involving permanent changes in penis length or girth would require direct clinical testing designed to measure those changes.
“Increases Stamina”
MAX Hard is also marketed for increased stamina.
This is a broad claim because stamina can refer to general energy, physical endurance, sexual endurance, or the ability to maintain sexual activity for longer.
The formula includes Maca, Taurine, Siberian Ginseng, Tongkat Ali, and other ingredients commonly found in energy or male vitality supplements.
Maca has some research involving sexual function, but a systematic review concluded that the available evidence was limited and stronger trials were needed.[5]
The MAX Hard formula itself has not been shown in a published clinical trial to increase sexual stamina.
Without knowing the individual ingredient doses, it is also difficult to determine how closely the formula matches amounts used in research.
“Boosts Endurance”
The seller also states that MAX Hard supports endurance.
This sounds similar to the stamina claim, but it still needs product-specific evidence.
Ingredients such as Taurine, Maca, Siberian Ginseng, and Tongkat Ali are often found in products marketed around physical performance or vitality.
However, having these ingredients on a label does not establish that the complete supplement improves sexual endurance.
MAX Hard contains 13 ingredients sharing a total of 735 mg.
Without individual doses or a finished-product clinical trial, the size of any endurance effect cannot be determined with confidence.
“Faster Arousal and Enhanced Sensations”
The product description links improved blood flow with faster arousal and enhanced sensations.
There is a reasonable biological connection between blood flow and erectile response, but sexual arousal is more complicated than circulation alone.
Arousal can also be influenced by stress, mood, medications, hormone levels, cardiovascular health, relationship factors, sleep, alcohol use, and individual response.
Research on L-Arginine and L-Citrulline has looked at erectile function, but that does not establish that MAX Hard causes faster sexual arousal or stronger sensations.
We did not identify a controlled clinical trial testing these outcomes with the complete MAX Hard formula.
“Yohimbe for Harder Erections”
The product description promotes Yohimbe for increased blood flow to penile tissue and harder erections.
Yohimbe has a long history of use in sexual-performance products, but dietary supplements containing Yohimbe are not the same as standardized prescription yohimbine.
NCCIH study states that there is not enough evidence to reach definite conclusions about whether Yohimbe dietary supplements are effective for erectile dysfunction or other health conditions.[4]
The amount of yohimbine can also vary greatly between supplements.
MAX Hard does not disclose how much Yohimbe Bark Extract or yohimbine is provided per capsule.
That makes the claim difficult to assess from both an effectiveness and safety standpoint.
“Supports Blood Flow”
Blood-flow support is one of the more understandable ideas behind the MAX Hard formula because it contains L-Arginine and L-Citrulline.
Both are connected with the nitric oxide pathway.
Human studies have investigated L-Arginine for erectile dysfunction and L-Citrulline for erection hardness.
However, the doses matter.
Research on L-Arginine generally used gram-level amounts, while the entire MAX Hard blend weighs 735 mg.
This means the ingredient research provides some background for the blood-flow claim, but it cannot confirm the size or reliability of the effect from one MAX Hard capsule.
Our Verdict on the Marketing Claims
MAX Hard has a broad formula containing Maca, L-Arginine, L-Citrulline, Yohimbe, Epimedium, Tongkat Ali, Tribulus, Taurine, Siberian Ginseng, and several other ingredients.
There is some scientific background behind parts of the formula.
L-Arginine has human research involving mild to moderate erectile dysfunction, while L-Citrulline has been studied for erection hardness. Maca has also been investigated for sexual function.
The difficulty comes when these findings are compared with the stronger claims made for MAX Hard.
We did not identify a published human clinical trial testing the complete formula. The individual ingredient amounts are also hidden within a 735 mg proprietary blend containing 13 active ingredients.
Claims involving blood flow and erection support have some connection with ingredients included in the formula.
Much more direct evidence is needed for claims involving a more powerful erection within 45 minutes, increased sexual stamina, faster arousal, enhanced sensations, and fuller length and girth.
MAX Hard would be easier to assess if the manufacturer disclosed the individual amount of each ingredient and provided controlled human research on the finished capsule.
MAX Hard Vs. Popular Male Performance Supplements
PeakErect®
PeakErect® has 15 active ingredients in each dose, including 250 mg of L-Arginine, 400 mg of Longjack, and 250 mg of Maca Root. Its formula is designed around male vitality, circulation, stamina, energy, recovery, and confidence.
Swiss Navy MAX Hard is formulated with a proprietary blend of Maca, Taurine, Yohimbe, Epimedium, L-Arginine, Tribulus, L-Citrulline, Siberian Ginseng, Tongkat Ali and more.
The main difference between the two is formula transparency.
Specific amounts are provided for several highlighted ingredients in PeakErect®. MAX Hard provides a total proprietary blend amount of 735 mg but does not disclose the amount of its 13 individual active ingredients.
MAX Hard is marketed more directly as a male performance supplement taken around 45 minutes before sexual activity, whereas PeakErect® takes a broader male wellness approach.
For consumers comparing ingredients with published research, clearly disclosed amounts make a formula easier to assess.
WOWMD® Perform Max
WOWMD® Perform Max contains L-Arginine, Zinc, Maca Root, and Longjack and is designed around stamina, daily energy, circulation support, confidence, and overall men’s wellness. It is taken as two tablets daily, preferably 20–30 minutes before a meal, and is positioned as a steady-use formula for active men.
WOWMD® Perform Max takes a more targeted approach compared with Swiss Navy MAX Hard. MAX Hard contains Maca, Yohimbe, Epimedium, L-Arginine, Tribulus, L-Citrulline, Tongkat Ali, Taurine, Cnidium Monnieri, and other ingredients within a 735 mg proprietary blend, while WOWMD® focuses on circulation, stamina, energy, and male vitality.
Another important difference is formula transparency. MAX Hard’s 735 mg proprietary blend makes the individual amounts of its 13 active ingredients difficult to determine. WOWMD® provides clearer information for assessing its highlighted ingredients.
MAX Hard’s claims involving more powerful erections, faster arousal, increased stamina, enhanced sensations, and fuller length and girth also require more product-specific clinical evidence.
For consumers who prefer clearer formula information and a defined daily wellness approach, WOWMD® Perform Max provides more straightforward information for evaluating its formula.

Final Verdict
MAX Hard is a 735 mg proprietary male performance formula containing Maca Root Extract, Taurine, Yohimbe, Oat Straw, Epimedium, L-Arginine, Tribulus Terrestris, L-Citrulline, Siberian Ginseng, L-Tyrosine, Tongkat Ali, Xanthoparmelia Scabrosa, and Cnidium Monnieri.
Some parts of the formula have a scientific background. L-Arginine has been studied in relation to erectile function, while L-Citrulline has research involving erection hardness. Maca has also been investigated for sexual function and libido.
However, most of the stronger claims made for MAX Hard go beyond what this ingredient-level research can establish. Claims involving a fast response, more powerful erections, increased stamina, faster arousal, enhanced sensations, and fuller length and girth would need direct clinical testing of the complete formula.
The biggest limitation is the proprietary blend. Although the label provides a total amount of 735 mg, it does not tell consumers how much of each of the 13 active ingredients they are getting. This makes comparisons with doses used in clinical research difficult.
Yohimbe also brings additional safety considerations, particularly because the amount of Yohimbe or yohimbine is not clearly disclosed.
MAX Hard may appeal to men interested in a single-capsule male performance supplement, but clearer individual dosages and clinical research on the complete formula would make it easier to determine how closely its actual effects match its advertised benefits.
