SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic Ingredients – The Breakdown

SkinCeuticals goes by the tagline “Advanced Skin Care Backed by Science”. True enough, this serum is composed of clinically-proven ingredients which include:

  • 15% L-Ascorbic Acid – L-ascorbic acid, or just vitamin C, is best known for its powerful antioxidant properties, which renders it effective in protecting the skin against sun-induced aging. It also stimulates the body to produce more collagen, which is necessary to keep the skin plump and smooth. Learn more about the dermatologic benefits of this important vitamin in this 2013 review article from Indian Dermatology Online Journal.
  • 1% Alpha-Tocopherol – Alpha-tocopherol, or just vitamin E, also possesses some antioxidant properties like vitamin C. Apart from that, it is also popular for its skin conditioning and nourishing effects, as well as its ability to boost the skin’s damage repair properties. Learn more about all these dermatologic benefits in this 2016 review article from Indian Dermatology Online Journal.
  • Ferulic Acid – This organic substance is obtained from plants. Its main function is to boost the antioxidant effects of the other two ingredients, in addition to its own antioxidant effect. The other applications of ferulic acid is discussed in this 2018 review article from Skin Pharmacology and Physiology.

    What a complete disappointment

I am beyond disappointed in this product. It’s a bit too heavy as a serum and just when you manage to spread it you get the feeling it is getting better. But the end result is that the serum does not absorb fully. And strangely it makes my skin tone look darker in some areas. And it also ends up highlighting the problem areas.

Very disappointed after I bought this

After reading all those good reviews, I decided to buy this product. The package came damaged, the cream was super thick and there was no expiration date on the cream bottle. I feel like this product has been expired because the texture is super thick and I also have more acnes after a few times using it. Very disappointed!!!

This product didn't work well for me.

I bought this product for my fine lines and wrinkles to get rid. I use a drop of it with my face moisturizer but it makes my face feel so greasy. Still, I used it for a month but not able to see any difference in my skin appearance. So now I have stopped using it. This product may not work on all skin types.
