How Does Natrol Melatonin Work?
Natrol Melatonin contains melatonin, a natural hormone released by the brain in response to changes in light. It claims to regulate the body’s internal clock by signaling that it is time to sleep.
Apart from melatonin, the product has a number of active ingredients that may also stimulate sleep.
For example, coconut oil and organic cane sugar may have stress-relieving effects, and stress is one of the major factors affecting sleep patterns.
The formula is also formulated to be non-habit forming, drug-free and vegetarian, offering a convenient, natural remedy to a restful sleep without incorporating any synthetic additives.
Natrol Melatonin Ingredients
Natrol Melatonin sleep products have a number of active ingredients, such as:
Coconut Oil – Has been used for centuries to control blood sugar, improve good cholesterol levels and relieve stress. A study in Journal of the American College of Nutrition suggests it could be an anti-depressant.[1]
Pectin – Is a soluble fiber found in plums, apples and the peels of citrus fruit. It may have a number of health benefits such as lowering cholesterol and sugar levels, according to an article in the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition.[2]
Organic cane sugar – May help restore and normalize sleep patterns, reduce stress, and activate the neurological patterns of the brain to induce sleep. However, more research is needed to confirm these claims.
Sodium citrate – Is a citric acid salt that is used as a flavoring and alkalizing agent, and an anticoagulant. One review in U.S. National Library of Medicine indicates it has alkalinizing factors, therefore it can neutralize excess acid present in the urine and blood.[3]
Organic tapioca syrup – A starch extracted from cassava, that is a source of calcium and iron. However, there’s not much research to support these claims.

Didn’t work as expected for me
I tried Natrol Melatonin for a week, but it didn’t help much with my sleep. No major side effects, just didn’t feel the difference I hoped for.
Okay to use infrequently but definitely not every night!
After multiple tests and no findings, I began to research what I had been doing differently over the past 4 weeks and the only thing I could come up with was taking Melatonin nightly…3 months ago I had TKR and spent 3 months with little or no sleep. In month 4 I was still having trouble sleeping so I would take Melatonin each night to correct my bodies clock. I began first with tinnitus and then a headache for 5 weeks. Had blood work and MRI done which found nothing. I stopped taking Melatonin and the headaches disappeared, still have tinnitus, but hope that will disappear also.
I guess I’ll just have to keep looking.
It helps me sleep and stay asleep, but I woke up with a very bad headache, obviously not going to keep taking it. I was really hoping this was going to be good. I guess I’ll just have to keep looking.
I've only used it once so maybe next time it'll work
Read a lot of reviews and it seemed to work great for a lot of people but not so much for me. I’ve only used it once so maybe next time it’ll work but at least on the first try it didn’t seem to work well.
Not Happy!! Still sleep-deprived
I wish I had done more research before buying these pills. I took this supplement for a month but it still doesn’t make me feel that sleepy and I specifically got these for my insomnia problems but unfortunately it hasn’t helped. Maybe I have to take a higher dosage.
