For people with joint pain, many arthritis organizations advise using natural ingredients from green-lipped mussels from New-Zealand. It is especially important for older individuals who might be more sensitive to synthetic products than younger ones.

Omega XL supplements help with joint pain and muscle soreness by reducing inflammation. They also make your immune and heart systems stronger and healthier. The company claims to have done years of research on this Omega XL and how it can combat inflammation and joint pain. It noted an 89 percent decrease in pain symptoms among 50 subjects studied.

Research[1] also noted that some of the ingredients have been sourced from green-lipped mussels from New Zealand. These shellfish are known for having a fatty acid content similar to fish oil. It should be noted that Omega XL is mainly a fish oil supplement. Fish oil has indeed been linked to joint health and support.

Perna Carnaliculus – According to the Food and Agriculture Organization, perna carniliculus is the name given to the green-lipped mussel, sometimes called the New Zealand Mussel [5]. The oil from this mussel is said to be rich in fatty acids that has been shown to help lower inflammation in osteoarthritis.

Vitamin E – Vitamin E is one of many natural antioxidants. We read in this Versus Arthritis article that it can be especially useful for helping to spur cartilage generation in individuals with osteoarthritis among animal studies.

It should also be noted that current evidence from studies on humans suggests that antioxidant vitamins aren’t effective in treating rheumatoid arthritis. Evidence from trials of the effectiveness of vitamin E in treating osteoarthritis provided mixed results.

Monosaturated Olive Oil – This ingredient is linked to lowered inflammation not only in the joints but heart as well. Olive oil has naturally occurring antioxidants that are responsible for decreasing inflammation and reducing pain according to WebMD [6].

“Monounsaturated fats, such as coconut oil and butter, are better for you than saturated and toxic fats and Consuming olive oil is linked to a reduced risk of cardiovascular disease, as well as a lower risk of cancer, neurodegenerative disease, and lung death,” said Dr. Michelle Pearlman, a physician nutrition specialist and assistant professor in the Division of Digestive Health and Liver Diseases at the Miller School of Medicine.

How Does It Work – The Science Behind Omega XL

The omega-3 fatty acids in Omega XL supplement works by stopping the body from creating molecules that may cause inflammation. This, in turn, can lower the pain and swelling in your points. Besides helping with joints, Omega XL Supplement is also known for being good for your heart.

Research has found that the omega-3 fatty acids in it can lower triglycerides and make your cholesterol levels better, which lowers your chances of getting heart disease. A separate Harvard article informs us that it is important for us to get omega-3s in our diet because the body does not naturally produce them [3].

Another study published in the Global Journal of Health Sciences found that omega-3 fatty acids had a big impact on reducing the count of sore and puffy joints in patients with active rheumatoid arthritis who were also getting DMARD therapy.[4]

A lot of scientific studies on omega-3 and joint health show that omega-3 has a specific and effective impact on how it helps your joints.

How To Take Omega XL?

In the first six weeks and a half, it is good to have your Omega XL capsules when you’re eating. This can help lower the chances of getting a stomachache, which is something supplement warnings often mention. You have the option to take up to four pills every day, but the exact amount depends on the doctor’s advice.

Once you’ve been using Omega XL for eight weeks, you can take the soft gel capsules one to three times each day, whatever suits your routine.

If you weigh more than 99 pounds (45 kilograms), you should take two capsules a day. If you weigh less, just one capsule daily is enough.

If your stomach is sensitive, it is better to have your Omega XL with food. The company suggests taking four gel capsules with each meal. You can choose to take all four at once or split them, having two Omega XL pills in the morning and two in the evening.

Where To Buy Omega XL?

Omega XL is available for purchase on sites such as Amazon and the official website. We would suggest you buy this product from the official website to have access to the 30-Day return policy.

Final Verdict

OmegaXL may have a high concentration of omega-3 fatty acids from a quality source of low-mercury fish. However, there is no actual evidence of this on their website so that makes it a little skeptical. Some users, in their Omega XL reviews, report improved mobility and reduced joint pain after taking the product.

It is rich in omega-3’s, it may help with joint pain and there are accounts of people seeing that it really helps with inflammation.

Some people have different opinions about this product, but it’s important to remember that not all joint pain supplements work the same for everyone. Everyone’s body is unique, so there are various supplements for joint health to choose from.

Is There Anything Else I Should Know About Omega XL?

Omega XL pills contain an unknown quality of olive oil. Olive oil contains monounsaturated fats. These have been shown to be healthy enough on their own as we see in this Mayo Clinic article, but when combined with a high saturated fat diet could be too much fat in general.

Other than the unknown information about the quality and quantity of some of the ingredients it seems to be safe to use. However, if you have a health condition you should talk to your doctor before starting this supplement.

Omega XL – Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Who shouldn’t take Omega XL?

A: People who have an allergy or intolerance to shellfish like mussels should avoid taking Omega XL, as it contains a concentrated extract from green-lipped mussels. Pregnant and nursing women may take it but should first discuss any potential risks or interactions with their doctor due to a lack of research on the effects during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Those with seafood or iodine allergies should also use caution before consuming Omega XL.

Q: What are the potential side effects of taking Omega XL?

A: For most people, Omega XL is generally well-tolerated. However, some individuals may experience mild and temporary side effects such as nausea, diarrhea, stomach upset, or low blood pressure. These side effects are not very common and usually only occur at the beginning of treatment or if taking higher than the recommended dosage.

More serious reactions are rare. As with any supplement, it’s best to start with lower doses and gradually increase to help the body adjust.

Q: Which is better – fish oil or Omega XL?

A: Both fish oil and Omega XL supplements can provide omega-3 fatty acids that support heart and brain health. However, Omega XL contains a unique extract from green-lipped mussels that delivers omega-3s in a more easily absorbed free fatty acid form.

It also provides additional anti-inflammatory nutrients not found in regular fish oils. That said, fish oil supplements tend to be less expensive than Omega XL. For most people either type of omega-3 supplement can be beneficial, though Omega XL may offer some additional joint support.

Q: Does Omega XL contain mercury?

A: Unlike some types of fish, mussels do not bioaccumulate mercury in their tissues. For this reason, Omega XL, which contains a concentrated extract from green-lipped mussels farmed in New Zealand, does not pose the same mercury concerns as fish oil supplements derived from larger predatory fish. The mussels used are tested to ensure mercury levels are negligible. So Omega XL can be a safer alternative for those looking to avoid even trace amounts of mercury.

Q: Does Omega XL affect blood pressure?

A: While there is no definitive research showing Omega XL significantly lowers or raises blood pressure, some studies have found that omega-3 fatty acids from marine sources may help support healthy blood pressure levels when consumed as part of an overall healthy diet and lifestyle.

For individuals with existing high blood pressure, Omega XL could potentially contribute to a slight reduction when combined with exercise, weight management, and reducing sodium intake. However, it is not a replacement for blood pressure medications. As with any supplement, discussion with one’s doctor is recommended.

Q: Does Omega XL raise cholesterol levels?

A: Research suggests the omega-3 fatty acids in Omega XL are unlikely to negatively impact cholesterol levels and may actually help support heart health. Multiple clinical trials have shown that omega-3 intake can help lower triglyceride levels and maintain “good” HDL cholesterol. The omega-3s in Omega XL are believed to downregulate genes involved in cholesterol synthesis. So for most adults, Omega XL poses no threat and may provide some cholesterol-supportive benefits as part of a well-rounded diet and exercise plan. As with any supplement, individual response may vary.

Q: How To Take Omega XL?

A: Omega XL Dosage: As per the official site, they suggest 4 gel capsules daily, preferably with a meal, for the first 8 weeks. All 4 may be taken at once, or two in the morning and two at night — whatever works best for you. Also, a third-party source of information tells us that the daily recommended dosage is at least 3 capsules.

Q: How Much Does Omega XL Cost?

A: The following pricing information comes straight from the official Omega XL website. Therefore this will be the Omega XL price and the terms you will be subject to should you buy it from them directly:

Your first bottle will cost $39.95
There is a $4.95 shipping fee which brings your first purchase to a total of $44.90

Q: What is Omega XL Used for?

A: OmegaXL is a natural joint health supplement formulated with a complex of healthy fatty acids (including DHA and EPA) which is used to help relieve pain due to inflammation.

Q: What If I have A Health Condition?

A: If you have certain health conditions always talk to your doctor first before starting a supplement regimen.

Q: What is Omega XL’s Return & Refund Policy?

A: Omega XL offers a 90-day return policy for their product. This policy can be used to get a refund within the first 90 days of your original purchase. However, there are a couple of things to keep in mind about this policy:

It does not cover auto-shipped products that you received 90 days after your very first purchase
It may or may not include a refund in shipping costs

Q: Does Omega XL really work for joint pain?

A: Yes, it does work! OmegaXL has been shown in clinical research to support joint health and mobility. Backed by 30 years of clinical research, Great HealthWorks created Omega XL to help you live with more vitality and less discomfort. Omega XL Amazon Customer reviews were mixed.

Q: Can you gain weight from Omega XL?

A: According to the Times of India report, “An omega-3 fatty acid is highly recommended for people who want to lose weight but excess consumption might show an opposite result. As you already know fish oil is rich in fat and is also high in calories, therefore, too much of it can increase your metabolic weight”.

Q: How long does it take Omega XL to work?

A: In our research, people noticed a difference in about a week to 10 days of taking Omega XL pills, the promised health benefits of Omega XL are yet to be seen! Levels of omega-3’s build up quickly in the body once you take supplements.

Q: Is Omega XL good for back pain?

Q: Does Omega XL work on nerve pain?

A: Omega-3 fatty acids, which are found in fish oil, have the potential to protect nerves from injury and help them to regenerate, new research suggests. (source)

Q: Is Omega XL a Scam?

A: There is no proof that Omega XL is a scam. However, certain people have had bad experiences while taking the supplement.

Q: What are the pros and cons of GLX3? How does GLX3 compare to Omega XL?

A: GLX3 claims to be 247 times more powerful and effective than salmon oil, one of the most common fish oil supplements available. GLX3 contains the most potent and purest form of omega-3 derived from green-lipped mussels. GLX3 reviews report seeing no difference at all in their levels of pain and inflammation. It contains shellfish, which is a food allergen.

Omega XL - a Waste of money, Didn't get the desired results

Maybe these Omega XL capsules worked for others but over the past almost month it did nothing at all for me. I have yet to experience the joint relief. $44 down the drain. I suggest choosing a different product with similar ingredients from Amazon, Walgreens or Walmart.
