Everyone has a different skin. A person’s skin type depends, mainly, on three factors. These include Water Content, which determines the skin’s elasticity, the Lipid Content, which reflects the health and softness of skin, as well as Sensitivity, which is the skin’s level of resilience.
Normal skin – it has an ideal balance of sebum production as well as cellular exchange for optimal skin health.
Oily skin – it is caused by overactive sebaceous glands, which leads to excess production of oil. This can be because of stress, medicines, hormonal imbalances, or due to exposure to excessive heat or humidity.
Combination skin – is a result of unbalanced lipid production as well as distribution throughout the skin, caused by hormonal imbalances or genetics.
Dry skin – is caused when the sebaceous glands do not produce enough oil, due to factors such as hormonal imbalances, acne treatments, besides an excessively dry climate.
Sensitive skin – “There are various unknown factors in the diagnosis of sensitive skin, which include inherited factors, gender, as well as age and race differences in skin sensitivity. What is known is that individuals who have sensitive skin seem to have several unique skin attributes which affect their immune system as well as the skin barriers, and makes them more susceptible to skin irritation.”
