The Truth About Spa Nudity

The simple fact is that only the part of the body being massaged is exposed. Another fact is that spa nudity is a big issue for all the first-time spa-goers. They’re quite anxious about taking their clothes off for a massage, and that too by a stranger! But the real story about spa nudity will help you to stay within your comfort zone.

Spa NudityYou need to change into a robe and slippers in the locker room. At times, there are private changing rooms. Some day spas require you to take your clothes off in the treatment room and then slip under the sheet. Resort spas tend to have steam, sauna, and hot tubs in separate men and women’s changing areas. You can either go nude, or wrap yourself in a towel, or wear a swimsuit.

While you’re in the lounge, ensure that the robe completely covers you and be considerate of the other guests. Large men, need to be careful about how they’re sitting. The massage therapist will pick you up in a waiting area; take you to the treatment room then leaves. This will give you time to hang up and your robe in order to slip between the sheet or a towel. The therapist always knocks before entering. Although you are nude during the massage, but you will always be covered with sheets. Only the body part which is being massaged is exposed. The therapist holds the sheet so that you’re covered when you turn over.

You can always wear underwear in case you’re uncomfortable with spa nudity. The European spas, like the spas in Germany tend to be more relaxed about spa nudity. They don’t use elaborate draping techniques, and men and women usually take steam and sauna baths together, nude. There are various styles of massage like Thai Massage or reflexology where you can stay fully clothed. In case you’re uncomfortable with spa nudity, you can ask about those.

Facials are a good option in case you’re uneasy about spa nudity. You can always keep your robe on. Even if you take it off, the esthetician will be only touching your head, arms, shoulders as well as possibly feet. You need to think twice about getting a body treatment such as a salt glow or a Vichy shower in case you’re uncomfortable with spa nudity, since you are likely to be exposed at some point.

Many spas offer disposable panties for the body treatment. Sometimes they’re optional, and at times, the spa will request you to wear them. Spas may request you to wear a swimsuit or disposable briefs during a hydrotherapy treatment. Women are usually allowed to choose, but you have to be comfortable with the idea that the therapist will be able to see everything.
