Night sweats insomnia is the common symptom of the menopausal transition. You need to understand why cold feet, night sweats insomnia occur, which is the first step towards managing these symptoms.

Night sweats insomniaInsomnia refers to the inability to sleep all through the night. During perimenopause, women tend to wake up in the early hours and then they may find it difficult to get back to sleep. It often happens that after waking up, women tend to experience night sweats, hence this may be referred to as night sweats insomnia.

Night sweating refers to a natural body function. It helps the body to remain fresh. People usually tend to sweat when it is hot, or when they are exercising or when in situations which tend to make them nervous, upset or even embarrassed. This takes place since releasing heat through perspiration is designed in order to help the body in keeping a healthy temperature.

One of the most common causes of night sweats insomnia is the hormonal change which is related to menopause. Normally, it is the hypothalamus, which is the heat regulatory area in the brain that regulates the body heat as per the surroundings. In case it is hot outside, it signals the body to release heat. In case it´s cold outside, the body will be signaled to retain heat. However, night sweats insomnia is produced when the hypothalamus starts overproducing heat.

It is due to the declining levels of estrogen hormones which are related to menopause, that are responsible for this malfunction of the hypothalamus. These detect an increased body temperature and tend to release chemicals which cause the skin blood vessels to dilate. This way the heat is released; which prompts night sweats insomnia.

In order to deal with night sweats insomnia more effectively, walk around your bedroom as this will restore circulation and you will tire yourself out which will help you to fall back to sleep.
