Menopause after hysterectomy varies from one woman to another

Some women tend to encounter hot flashes as a symptom of menopause after hysterectomy while other can suffer certain urinary tract infections.

Menopause After HysterectomyHysterectomy refers to a surgical removal of a woman’s uterus in order to provide her relief from various health ailments such as uterine fibroids, endometriosis, besides persistent pain and bleeding. There are three kinds of hysterectomy. These include total, partial as well as radical. In total hysterectomy, the uterus as well as cervix is removed besides the ovaries and the fallopian tubes. During partial hysterectomy, just the uterus is removed while the cervix and ovaries are left intact. Radical hysterectomy I one in which the uterus, cervix, besides the ovaries, lymph nodes as well as other supporting structures gets removed. Whether it is partial, complete or radical hysterectomy, it indicates that a woman has undergone a surgically induced menopause , affecting her child bearing ability. This changes her hormonal levels, making a woman suffer early menopause after hysterectomy as well as other hysterectomy side effects.

In case a woman undergoes partial hysterectomy, she will typically have a normal peri-menopause and menopause. So she is going to have menopause after hysterectomy, but it is difficult to detect when it will begin, since there are no periods which can help to identify the initial changes. In case one ovary is intact, the woman will be entering into menopause naturally. Also, in the uterus gets removed but the ovaries remain, the menstrual cycle will stop but all the other menopause symptoms will commence at an earlier age.

In case of a woman who has undergone complete hysterectomy, she will be thrust abruptly into menopause. This is also known as surgical menopause. Thus, the woman who is dealing with this surgical menopause tends to suffer devastating symptoms of menopause after hysterectomy, as compared to the woman who will go into menopause naturally.
