Insomnia weight gain are inter linked

Insomnia Weight GainSleep is very essential, as this is the time when our bodies replenish as well as repair the mental and physical wear-and-tear which we tend to suffer during the day. However, today we have created a sleep-deprived generation, which is due to cell phones, computers, as well as PDAs and 24-hour cable television which always keep our brains stimulated. This results in fatigue, poor health as well as insomnia weight gain.

Researchers now believe that sleep disorders, like insomnia, may contribute more to obesity than they had once thought. Sleep apnea is a disorder in which a person who is sleeping stops breathing because the person’s airways are obstructed, or even blocked. Even though sleep apnea can affect anyone, it is much more common in overweight men. Other risk factors for sleep apnea include being 40 years old or more, have a large neck as well as having a family history of this disorder. While some may tend to think sleep apnea is just a snoring problem, but in case it is left untreated, it may lead to heart attack, high blood pressure as well as stroke.

People who are suffering from sleep apnea as well as other sleep disorders are less likely to enter into the deeper, restorative phases of sleep. Thus, they run the risk of packing on extra weight as well.
Leptin and Grehlin are the hormones which help the body to control appetite as well as weight gain and loss. Leptin tends to suppress appetite, while Grehlin increases the appetite and can prevent a person from losing weight.

In case lack of sleep becomes a chronic problem, the levels of Grehlin tend to increase n order to cause greater appetite. Besides, the levels of Leptin decrease. Regardless of diet and exercise, insomnia weight gain is also linked together.
